Aventura at Prospect is a premier skilled nursing facility in Prospect Park, PA, and we are looking for a Cook to join our Food Services team!
This position offers varied shifts, with most shifts scheduled from 11:30 AM–7:30 PM. We are seeking a dependable, experienced food service professional who takes pride in preparing quality meals and creating a positive dining experience for our residents.

The Part-Time Cook assists the Food Services Director with the planning, coordination, preparation, and execution of daily food service activities. The Cook may also supervise dietary staff in the absence of the Food Services Director to ensure quality food production, timely meal service, sanitation, and proper kitchen operations.
Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes, regulations, and the Diet Manual.
Ensure meals are attractive, properly portioned, and served at the appropriate temperature.
Ensure residents receive meals and snacks that are consistent with their prescribed diets and physicians’ orders.
Prepare and provide appropriate substitute foods and beverages when needed.
Inspect food preparation and maintain high standards for food quality, cleanliness, and sanitation.
Ensure snacks and beverages are available between meals.
Oversee the coffee, tea, and snack stations.
Assist with tray service as needed.
Assist with special events and other food service activities.
Assist with menu planning and ensure menus meet applicable state and local regulations.
Maintain required logs and documentation.
Assist with ordering and purchasing food and kitchen supplies.
Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
Immediately report any situation that may endanger a resident.
Assist with training and providing ongoing support to dietary staff.
Supervise kitchen staff in the Food Services Director’s absence.
Address concerns and help resolve problems within the department.
Culinary training and/or a minimum of 6 months of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
One year of experience in a long-term care or assisted living setting.
Current ServSafe or Food Handler certification required/maintained every five years.
Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe food-handling practices.
Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and management.
Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to work throughout the kitchen, dining room, and related food service areas.
Must be able to handle kitchen tools, equipment, and controls.
Must have adequate vision and sense of smell to perform essential job functions.
Ability to occasionally lift, push, or move up to 50 pounds.
