• $55,000–$60,000 per year, based on experience

Activities Director Duties and Responsibilities

• Create engaging programs inspired by residents’ interests, life stories, cultural backgrounds, and preferences.

• Bring fresh ideas to games, music, creative projects, celebrations, and individual activities.

• Get to know residents personally and help each person feel valued, included, and connected.

• Adapt activities for residents with physical limitations or cognitive changes, including those who prefer individual visits.

• Lead and support activities staff, volunteers, and outside entertainers.

• Coordinate activity calendars, supplies, and department resources.

• Collaborate with residents, families, and the care team on assessments, individualized care plans, and timely documentation.

Activities Director Qualifications

• Creativity, initiative, and enthusiasm for turning ideas into meaningful resident experiences.

• Genuine compassion, patience, and a commitment to residents’ dignity and quality of life.

• Strong communication, organization, and team leadership skills.

• Qualifications that meet applicable New Jersey and federal requirements for directing activities in a skilled nursing facility.

• Previous experience in skilled nursing or long-term care activities required.
