Bus Driver

The Bus Driver is responsible for providing safe, timely, and courteous transportation for residents

to medical appointments, social outings, and other scheduled activities. This role requires a

commitment to safety, professionalism, and compassionate service.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Safely operate a facility vehicle to transport residents to and from scheduled destinations.

• Assist residents with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including those with mobility

challenges.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and operational vehicle; report maintenance needs promptly.

• Follow all traffic laws and facility transportation policies.

• Plan and follow efficient driving routes to maintain punctuality.

• Communicate with facility staff to coordinate transportation schedules.

• Maintain accurate records for billing and documentation.

• Provide a friendly, respectful, and supportive presence for all residents.

Position Requirements:

• At least 18 years of age.

• Minimum of two (2) years of driving experience.

• Valid driver’s license with no more than 5 points (verified via BMV Driver Abstract).

• Clear criminal background check with no disqualifying offenses.

• FBI background check (if applicable based on residency).

• Successful completion of a physician-conducted medical exam, including vision and

physical capability assessments.

• Completion of a Passenger Assistance Course.

• Current CPR and First Aid certification (AHA, Red Cross, or ASHI).

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle.

• Ability to assist residents with mobility needs, including pushing wheelchairs and offering

physical support.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

• Ability to bend, kneel, and reach to secure mobility devices and assist passengers.

• Ability to work in various weather conditions while assisting residents.
