Salisbury, Connecticut
SVNA Home Assistance | Northwest Connecticut | $20–$23 per Hour | Per Diem
Experienced caregiver or just getting started? We want to hear from you!
SVNA Home Assistance is growing, and we are looking for compassionate, dependable, and dedicated individuals to join our home care team throughout the Northwest Corner of Connecticut.
Whether you are an experienced CNA, PCA, home care aide, companion, or someone who has cared for a loved one and is interested in pursuing a career in caregiving, we encourage you to apply!
We provide non-medical home care services to seniors and individuals who need assistance remaining safe, comfortable, and independent in their homes.
You don't need years of professional caregiving experience to make a difference. What matters most is compassion, reliability, a willingness to learn, and a genuine desire to help others.
We have ongoing caregiving opportunities throughout Northwest Connecticut, including:
Salisbury, Lakeville, and Sharon
Kent and Cornwall
Canaan, North Canaan, and Falls Village
Winsted, Winchester, and Norfolk
Torrington, Goshen, and Litchfield
Washington, New Preston, and surrounding communities
Assignments are based on client needs, caregiver experience, location, and availability.
At SVNA Home Assistance, we understand that everyone has different scheduling needs. Our per diem caregivers provide us with their preferred days and hours of availability, and we work to match them with clients who need care during those times.
We offer a variety of shifts, including:
Morning shifts
Afternoon shifts
Evening shifts
Weekday and weekend assignments
Short shifts with a 3-hour minimum
Longer shifts when available
Consistent, recurring client schedules
Weekend availability is strongly preferred.
We want applicants to understand how home care scheduling works before joining our team.
We DO have longer shifts available, but not every client needs care for an entire day. Many of our clients require assistance for just a few hours at a time, and those shorter visits are just as important as our longer assignments.
All of our client visits have a 3-hour minimum, and we expect caregivers to be willing to accept shorter shifts that fall within their agreed-upon availability.
For caregivers looking to work longer days, our scheduling team makes every effort to stack multiple client shifts together, arranging visits as close together as possible to help create fuller workdays and minimize downtime between clients.
For example, a caregiver may work with one client in the morning and another client in the afternoon to build a longer day.
While we do our best to create consistent, recurring schedules, hours depend on client needs and may change. As a per diem employer, we cannot guarantee a specific number of hours each week.
We regularly have caregiving opportunities available, but we are looking for individuals who understand the importance of flexibility, consistency, and a willingness to work both shorter and longer assignments.
If you are only interested in 8- or 12-hour shifts and are unwilling to accept shorter visits, this may not be the right position for you.
Our clients depend on us for care, whether they need assistance for three hours or an entire day. We need caregivers who value that responsibility.
Every client is different, and we work to match caregivers with assignments that fit their skills, experience, and comfort level.
Depending on the client's needs, responsibilities may include:
Companionship & Daily Support
Providing companionship, conversation, and emotional support.
Accompanying clients on walks, social outings, and activities.
Assisting with errands, grocery shopping, and appointments.
Providing medication reminders.
Encouraging independence and participation in daily routines.
Homemaking Assistance
Light housekeeping and laundry.
Meal preparation and assistance with meals.
Maintaining a clean, comfortable, and safe living environment.
Helping with everyday household tasks.
Personal Care Assistance – For Qualified Caregivers
Assisting with bathing, dressing, and grooming.
Providing toileting and incontinence care.
Assisting with mobility and safe transfers.
Supporting clients with limited mobility.
Providing care for individuals living with dementia or receiving hospice services.
Not every client requires hands-on personal care. We have opportunities ranging from companionship and homemaking to more involved personal care assignments.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experience levels!
You may be a great fit if you are:
An experienced CNA, PCA, HHA, or home caregiver.
A companion or homemaker who enjoys helping seniors.
Someone who has cared for an aging parent, family member, or loved one.
Someone interested in starting a career in caregiving.
A retiree looking for meaningful part-time employment.
Someone interested in supplementing their income with additional caregiving hours.
What matters most to us:
Compassion, patience, and respect for others.

Willingness to work both shorter and longer shifts.
Understanding that consistency is important to our clients.
Professionalism and clear communication.
A willingness to learn and follow individualized care plans.
A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Ability to pass required background screening and drug testing.
Willingness to complete required training.

We recognize that caregivers come to us with different levels of experience.
We provide new-hire training and ongoing education to help our employees understand their responsibilities and feel confident in their assignments.
Caregivers are matched with clients based on their skills, training, experience, and availability.
Our office team provides scheduling assistance, communication, and support throughout your employment.
Pay Range: $20.00–$23.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Employment Type: Per Diem / W-2 Employee
Location: Northwest Connecticut and surrounding communities.
Available Shifts: Mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekdays, and weekends.
Scheduling: Short and long shifts based on client needs and caregiver availability.
At SVNA Home Assistance, we believe great caregivers come from many different backgrounds.
Some have years of professional experience, while others discover their passion for caregiving through helping a family member or loved one.
We strive to build meaningful relationships between caregivers and clients by matching skills, personalities, and availability.
We also understand how important it is for our caregivers to have consistency in their schedules. Our office team works hard to coordinate client visits, build recurring assignments, and provide as much stability as possible within the changing needs of home care.
We are looking for individuals who want to be part of a team, take pride in their work, and understand the important role they play in helping others remain safely at home.
Because it's more than care, it's connection.
Whether you're an experienced caregiver or looking to begin a rewarding career helping others, we would love to hear from you!
When applying, please include:
Your preferred days and hours of availability.
Your willingness to work shorter 3-hour shifts.
Whether you are interested in building longer workdays by working with multiple clients.
Your weekend availability.
Your caregiving experience, if any.
The towns or areas you are willing to travel to.
Join SVNA Home Assistance and make a difference in someone's life, one visit at a time!
