Job Summary

Easthaven Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is seeking an organized and dependable Nursing Secretary to provide administrative support to the nursing department. This position works closely with nursing leadership and facility staff to maintain accurate records, coordinate communication, and support daily nursing operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical and administrative support to the Director of Nursing and nursing management team.

• Answer telephone calls, take messages, and direct inquiries to the appropriate staff.

• Prepare and maintain nursing reports, logs, correspondence, and departmental files.

• Assist with organizing admission, transfer, and discharge paperwork.

• Scan, copy, file, and enter information into electronic systems accurately and promptly.

• Help coordinate resident appointments, transportation, and related paperwork as assigned.

• Track outstanding documentation and follow up with the appropriate departments.

• Assist with meeting preparation, calendars, and staff communications.

• Maintain confidentiality of resident and employee information.

• Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Previous administrative or secretarial experience preferred.

• Experience in a nursing home, healthcare setting, or nursing department strongly preferred.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Professional telephone manner and effective written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, and data entry; experience with electronic medical records preferred.

• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.
