Location: San Diego, CA 92128 – Rancho Bernardo
Pay: $19–$40/hour depending on client assignment, services provided, and level of care required
Job Type: Part-Time / Weekend
Proposed Schedule: Saturdays & Sundays, 11:00 AM–3:00 PM (4 hours per day)

DESCRIPTION

Cornerstone Caregiving is seeking a compassionate, patient, and experienced Weekend Caregiver to provide one-on-one care for a senior gentleman living with dementia in the Rancho Bernardo (92128) area.

This position is ideal for someone who understands dementia care and enjoys building meaningful relationships with seniors while providing companionship, personal care, and safety supervision.

Our client remains mobile but is at high risk for falls and needs a caregiver who is attentive, gentle, and proactive in providing standby assistance.

We are looking for someone who can provide a calm, reassuring, and respectful approach, especially when encouraging the client with his daily routine and personal care needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one companionship and meaningful conversation
• Assist with safe walking, mobility, and transfers
• Provide standby assistance during bathroom visits and daily activities
• Assist with toileting, incontinence care, and personal hygiene as needed
• Offer shower assistance with patience and gentle encouragement
• Warm and serve meals prepared by the family
• Encourage the client to get up and participate in his daily routine without pressure
• Provide fall-prevention supervision and maintain a safe environment
• Respect the client's preferences, comfort, and independence
• Observe and report changes in mobility, behavior, or condition
• Provide dependable respite support for the family

Ideal Caregiver

We're looking for someone who is patient, compassionate, observant, dependable, and experienced with dementia care.

The ideal caregiver understands that dementia clients may sometimes refuse assistance and knows how to respond with gentle encouragement, reassurance, patience, and redirection rather than force.

You should be comfortable assisting a senior who has mobility challenges and an increased risk of falling while maintaining his dignity and independence.

Experience with dementia, fall prevention, toileting, incontinence care, and mobility assistance is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of caregiving experience preferred
• Dementia or Alzheimer's care experience highly preferred
• Experience with fall prevention and standby mobility assistance
• Comfortable providing personal care and incontinence assistance
• Patient, attentive, and respectful of client preferences
• Reliable Saturday and Sunday availability
• Strong communication skills
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to pass a background check
• HCA registration or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Required TB clearance
