Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team of healthcare professionals. As an LPN, you will provide direct nursing care to our residents, supervise the day-to-day nursing activities of STNAs and non-licensed personnel, and coordinate with other departments to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Functions:
Direct the day-to-day functions of STNAs or other nursing personnel in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines
Provide discipline and evaluations of assigned STNAs and other nursing personnel
Meet with assigned nursing personnel to plan shifts' services, programs, and activities
Charting and Documentation:
Complete and file required recordkeeping forms or charts upon resident admission, transfer, and/or discharge
Encourage attending physicians to review treatment plans, record and sign orders, progress notes, etc.
Medication Administration:
Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician
Verify resident identity before administering medication
Ensure that prescribed medication for one resident is not administered to another resident
Personnel Functions:
Inform nursing personnel of new admissions, their expected time of arrival, room assignment, etc.
Provide feedback and recommendations for probationary and annual employee performance evaluations for STNAs
Lead, educate, counsel, and discipline assigned STNAs, as necessary
Nursing Care Functions:
Review resident care plans daily to ensure that appropriate care is being rendered
Inform the Nurse Supervisor and/or Unit Manager of any changes that need to be made on the care plan
