State Tested Nursing Assistant

Responsibilities:
Provide direct nursing care to residents, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
Assist residents with daily living activities, such as toileting, incontinence care, and mobility
Monitor residents' conditions and report any changes or concerns to the nursing team
Supervise and educate STNAs and other Facility personnel on established policies and procedures
Participate in staff development activities, including in-service training and orientation programs
Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to all safety and sanitation protocols
Ensure that all equipment and supplies are properly maintained and used
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrative Functions:
Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, and computer programs in an informative and descriptive manner
Report all changes in the resident's condition to the Nurse Supervisor, LPN, or RN
Personnel Functions:
Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures
Cooperate with inter-departmental personnel and other Facility personnel to ensure adequate nursing services
Meet with shift's nursing personnel to identify and correct problem areas
Personal Care Functions:
Participate in and receive the nursing report upon reporting for duty
Assist residents with daily dental and mouth care
Assist residents with bath functions and dressing and undressing
Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures
Provide eye and ear care
Staff Development:
Attend and participate in scheduled training and educational classes
Attend and participate in scheduled orientation programs and activities
Safety and Sanitation:
Participate in appropriate in-service training programs prior to performing tasks that involve potential exposure to blood and body fluids
Wash hands before and after performing any service for the resident
Report all hazardous conditions and equipment to any member of management or nursing supervisor immediately
Equipment and Supply Functions:
Use only the equipment you have been trained to use
Report defective equipment to any member of management or nursing supervisor
Care Plan and Assessment:
Review care plans daily to determine if changes in the resident's daily care routine have been made on the care plan
Inform the Nurse Supervisor, LPN, or RN of any changes in the resident's condition
Resident Rights:
Honor the resident's refusal of treatment request
Abide by the resident's participation in treatment decision
Inform the resident of consequences of not participating in prescribed therapy and document such action in the resident's clinical record
Qualifications:
Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a State Tested Nursing Assistant in this state
Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and team concept
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities
Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel
