Activity Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Activity Director designs and runs a meaningful, person-centered activity program that meets the social, emotional, spiritual, and cognitive needs of all residents — from the most independent to those with advanced dementia.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assess each resident’s interests, history, and preferences; contribute to care plans. • Plan and post a monthly activity calendar that addresses physical, social, cognitive, creative, spiritual, and community needs.

• Lead and supervise group and individual activities, including small-group programming for residents with dementia.

• Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers; coordinate community partnerships. • Manage the activity budget, supplies, and outings (including transportation logistics).

• Document participation and response in the resident record.

QUALIFICATIONS: Activity Director certification (ADC or NCCAP) where required by the state of practice.
