Charter Senior Living of West Bend | West Bend, WI
$21.00–$23.00/hour
8-Hour 3rd shift | CBRF Certification Required
Charter Senior Living of West Bend is looking for an experienced Lead Medication Technician / Lead Med Tech who is ready to take on additional leadership responsibility while remaining hands-on with resident care.
This role is ideal for an experienced Med Tech who other team members naturally turn to for guidance—someone who knows how to organize a shift, support and train associates, maintain medication and documentation standards, and make sure resident needs are followed through from start to finish.
You'll still provide direct resident and medication support, but you'll also serve as a leader and resource for caregivers and Med Techs during your assigned shift.
If you're dependable, confident, organized, and ready to grow your leadership experience, we'd love to meet you.
As a Lead Med Tech, you'll help set the standard for the shift.
You'll be expected to:
Serve as the lead staff member for the shift when assigned
Help organize and prioritize the shift's workload
Assign or coordinate responsibilities among caregivers and Med Techs
Provide direction and support to associates throughout the shift
Monitor completion of resident care, documentation, and scheduled responsibilities
Help keep the team organized when priorities change
Communicate resident-care or staffing concerns to the appropriate community leader
Help maintain a positive, accountable, and resident-focused team environment
Lead by example in professionalism, reliability, and resident care
This position provides shift-level leadership and support while working in partnership with the community's nursing and leadership team.
We want our Lead Med Tech to help make the entire team stronger.
You'll:
Help orient and train new caregivers and Medication Technicians
Serve as a resource for associates who have questions during the shift
Model proper medication-administration practices
Reinforce resident-care standards and individualized care plans
Model appropriate infection-control practices
Reinforce accurate and timely documentation
Help new associates understand community expectations and routines
Identify potential performance, medication, documentation, or resident-care concerns
Promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate leader
Help reinforce community policies and applicable CBRF requirements
You'll also continue to provide the hands-on care our residents depend on, including:
Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and community policies
Maintain accurate Medication Administration Records and required documentation
Follow medication-management and medication-safety procedures
Monitor residents and report changes in condition
Assist residents with activities of daily living as needed
Support individualized resident care plans
Communicate relevant resident information during shift transitions
Follow infection-control and safety practices
Promote resident dignity, independence, comfort, and quality of life
Build meaningful relationships with residents and families
Work collaboratively with nursing, caregiving, and community leadership
Current applicable Wisconsin CBRF certifications
Previous Medication Technician/Medication Aide experience
Experience providing direct care to seniors
Strong knowledge of medication administration and documentation
Strong attention to detail and commitment to medication safety
Dependable attendance and follow-through
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities during a busy shift
Confidence providing direction and support to peers
Ability to recognize concerns and appropriately escalate them to leadership
Compassionate, resident-centered approach to care
Previous Assisted Living, Memory Care, or senior living experience
Previous Lead Med Tech, Lead Caregiver, Shift Lead, or similar experience
Experience training or orienting new employees
Experience coordinating shift responsibilities or providing direction to other associates
You're the person on the shift who:
Other associates already come to when they have questions
Notices when something hasn't been completed and follows through
Can organize priorities without becoming overwhelmed
Leads by example instead of simply telling others what to do
Is confident enough to provide direction while still being a team player
Takes medication accuracy and documentation seriously
Communicates concerns instead of allowing problems to continue
Enjoys teaching and helping newer associates become successful
Can maintain accountability without creating unnecessary conflict
Is willing to jump in and help wherever the team needs support
Understands that being a Lead means taking additional ownership of the shift
