ALC is seeking dependable and compassionate Patient Transport Drivers to join our team on a full-time basis.
The Patient Transport Driver is responsible for safely and reliably transporting patients to and from medical appointments and healthcare facilities while providing a professional, respectful, and comfortable experience. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, has excellent driving and time-management skills, and understands the importance of treating every patient with patience and dignity.
Safely transport patients to and from medical appointments, healthcare facilities, and other approved destinations.
Ensure patients arrive at their destinations safely and on time.
Operate passenger vans and wheelchair-accessible vehicles while following all traffic laws and safety requirements.
Assist patients with entering and exiting vehicles as needed.
Safely operate and assist with specialized transportation equipment, including wheelchair lifts and other accessibility equipment.
Secure wheelchairs and other mobility equipment appropriately during transportation.
Plan efficient transportation routes and account for traffic and other potential delays.
Maintain accurate records of patient pick-up and drop-off times, mileage, and transportation-related incidents.
Communicate professionally with patients, family members, caregivers, and healthcare personnel regarding transportation schedules and procedures.
Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report mechanical, safety, or other issues that could affect patient safety or comfort.
Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable transportation environment.
Respond appropriately and calmly to unexpected situations or changes during transportation.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
One (1) year prior wheelchair accessible vehicle driving experience required.
Valid driver's license.
Current auto insurance.
Clean driving record.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients, families, and healthcare personnel.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently while also cooperating effectively with the transportation and healthcare teams.
Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing schedules and transportation needs.
Ability to assist patients and handle transportation equipment as required.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm when unexpected situations arise.
The right candidate will be dependable, punctual, patient, and safety-focused. Because our drivers work directly with individuals who may have mobility limitations or other healthcare-related needs, a compassionate attitude and commitment to providing respectful patient care are essential.
Experience transporting patients, seniors, individuals with disabilities, or other passengers requiring assistance is a plus.
This position may require the ability to assist patients with entering and exiting vehicles and to operate or handle wheelchair-accessible transportation equipment.
