Responsibilities
Develop and implement engaging activity programs tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs, including memory care and dementia support.
Coordinate resident events such as outings, social gatherings, and therapeutic activities that promote socialization and well-being.
Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as mobility, dressing, and personal hygiene during events when needed.
Build strong rapport with residents through compassionate communication and personalized attention to foster a welcoming environment.
Manage scheduling of activities and ensure timely setup and cleanup for all events.
Collaborate with caregiving staff, nursing teams, and family members to ensure activities align with individual care plans and health considerations.
Maintain accurate records of resident participation and activity feedback to continually improve program offerings.
Qualifications
Proven experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or senior care environments.
Knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease, dementia care, geriatrics, and memory support strategies.
Familiarity with long-term care practices, home & community care services, and working with geriatric patients or individuals with disabilities.
Strong communication skills for engaging residents effectively and coordinating with team members.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office for documentation and scheduling purposes.
Ability to develop innovative programs that promote resident engagement and well-being.
Prior experience working with seniors in senior living facilities or similar settings is highly preferred.
Florida Background Screening Requirement:
This position requires a Level 2 background screening through the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Clearinghouse in accordance with Florida law. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all required background screening.
