Kitchen Supervisor

Amberwood Estates is seeking a lead cook to manage and operate the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Director. You will report to the Dietary Director and work to keep the kitchen safe, clean, and efficient in a long-term care setting.

Job Summary:

The role requires prior cooking experience in healthcare facilities, ability to read procedures and follow recipes, and adherence to ServSafe standards. Physical demands include frequent standing and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Should have experience as a cook in a hospital or long-term care facility for not less than one year.

• Ability to read technical procedures.

• Ability to read and follow recipes.

• Must obtain and maintain ServSafe Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner.

• Ability to prepare tasteful meals and to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.

• Follow prepared menus and portion control guides; prepare special diets accurately.

• Record food temperatures for meal safety; prepare pureed foods.

• Assist with serving meals and maintain sanitation standards.

• Report resident care concerns to Administrator/Director of Nurses; participate in training of dietary staff.

• Supervise and present food attractively; work under supervision in absence of Dietary Director.
