Activities Assistant

Hanover Hall Nursing & Rehabilitation Center | Hanover, PA

Hanover Hall Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is seeking a motivated, energetic, and creative Activities Assistant to join our skilled nursing facility. This role supports the Director of Activities by helping plan, lead, and carry out engaging programs that meet the emotional, recreational, social, and spiritual needs of our residents.

Position Details

  • Full Time- Every other weekend and holiday required

  • Part Time-10 hours per week-Every other weekend and holiday required

  • Pay: Based on experience

Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead, and assist with resident activities that promote socialization, creativity, exercise, and overall well-being.

  • Motivate and encourage resident participation and confidently lead group and one-on-one activities.

  • Interact positively and comfortably with residents and build meaningful relationships.

  • Assist residents with daily personal activities such as writing letters, making phone calls, and participating in programs.

  • Escort residents to scheduled activities and events.

  • Assist with resident progress documentation and activity attendance tracking.

  • Support facility engagement efforts, including mail delivery, plant care, pet/fish care, newsletter preparation, fundraising, and PA announcements.

  • Provide and supervise the use of craft supplies, materials, and equipment.

  • Encourage residents to express creativity and maximize independence.

  • Think outside the box and develop creative ways to engage residents based on their individual interests and abilities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • Prior long-term care or experience working with elderly or disabled populations preferred.

  • Ability to think outside the box and create engaging, meaningful activities.

  • Comfortable interacting with residents and building positive relationships.

  • Motivated, dependable, and able to independently lead activities.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Compassionate and resident-focused approach.
