Per Diem Cook

West Haven Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation is seeking a dependable Per Diem Cook to join our Dietary Services team.

Qualifications:

• Current ServSafe certification required

• Prior cooking or healthcare food service experience preferred

• Ability to follow menus, recipes, diet orders, and food safety requirements

• Dependable, organized, and able to work effectively as part of a team

Job Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook meals according to posted menus, recipes, resident preferences, and prescribed diet orders.

• Set up meal trays accurately and ensure food is served at the proper temperature.

• Prepare appropriate portions, meal substitutions, and special diet items.

• Set up and maintain the steam table for meal service.

• Follow proper food handling, sanitation, storage, thawing, and infection-control practices.

• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including food preparation areas, equipment, utensils, refrigerators, floors, and storage areas.

• Properly store unused food and maintain organization of food and ingredient storage areas.

• Assist with menu changes and other dietary department responsibilities as needed.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Food Service Director or Food Service Supervisor.
