About the Role

The Payer Contract Specialist is responsible for leading contract discussions and negotiations with leadership and key stakeholders. This role will focus on negotiating reimbursement rates, fee schedules, participation terms, and contract requirements, while developing strong relationships with payer contacts, leadership, and the credentialing team. You will maintain accurate documentation and contract records, track contracting activity, and support the organization's growth by identifying opportunities and closing agreements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead contract discussions and negotiations with leadership and key stakeholders
• Negotiate reimbursement rates, fee schedules, participation terms, and contract requirements
• Develop strong relationships with payer contacts, leadership, and the credentialing team
• Maintain consistent follow-up throughout the contracting process to drive agreements towards completion
• Track contracting activity, renewals, outstanding terms, negotiations, and follow-ups
• Maintain accurate documentation and contract records
• Support the organization's growth by identifying opportunities and closing agreements

Required Skills

• Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Strong contract negotiation and closing skills with experience discussing reimbursement rates, fee schedules, and provider participation agreements
• Strong communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications and Experience

• 3 or more years of Government and Commercial Payor Contracting experience, including negotiations, reimbursement, contract terms, amendments, renewals, and agreements
• Behavioral Health contracting experience a plus
• Understand and interpret Hospital contract language
• Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional work experience
