Activities Assistant: Full-Time M-F & alternating weekends

Qualifications:

• Ability to communicate English, verbally & written.

• Preferably 2 years satisfactory employment as a recreation assistant in an elder or senior care facility.

• Experience in leading group recreation programs for elders or memory impaired clients.

• High School Diploma or GED

Job Duties:

• Understand the approach and structure of recreation for elders:  Bingo arts & Crafts, sing a longs, exercise groups and word games.

• Implement and lead activities of therapeutic recreation according to monthly schedule and scheduled hours

• Must move intermittently through the workday

• Push residents in wheelchair weighing up to 300 lbs.

• Assist in planning and implementation of organized program for recreation

• Assist in providing a planned resident-specific, goal-directed recreation program

• Consistently work cooperatively with residents, families, and staff

• Be able to take direction and work as a team
