Flexible DSP

Kindly Direct Care is hiring a caring, dependable Direct Support Professional to provide one-to-one support to an adult with developmental disabilities in Bergen County.

About This Opportunity 

This individual is looking for a consistent DSP who can provide companionship, help them get out into the community, and encourage greater independence. This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys building genuine relationships and helping another person participate more fully in everyday life. 

What You’ll Do 

• Provide support a 51-year-old guy who is blind and has limited verbal communication. He enjoys going into the community, including malls, parks, movies, and programs, as well as playing guitar. Experience supporting individuals with visual impairments and behaviors is a plus. 

• Help the individual participate in community outings.

• Support errands, appointments, recreation, volunteering, social opportunities, or other community activities as applicable. 

• Encourage independence, communication, decision-making, self-advocacy, and life skills. 

• Help the individual work toward goals identified in the service plan. 

• Provide reminders, routine support, or light assistance as required by the case. 

• Maintain safety and follow individualized support instructions. 

• Complete required documentation and communicate reliably with the Kindly team. 

What We’re Looking For 

• Warm, patient, dependable, and genuinely interested in building a consistent relationship. 

• Able to reliably work the posted schedule. 

• Comfortable supporting an adult one-to-one in home and community settings. 

• Vehicle Required 

• DSP, mentoring, education, recreation, human services, or caregiving experience is helpful but may not be required for this assignment. 

Schedule: Twice a week 10:00am - 2:00pm (Flexible)
Pay: 19 - 21/hr

Driving on shift: REQUIRED
