The Billing Team Lead will oversee day-to-day billing operations while supporting Billing Specialists in the timely and accurate submission, follow-up, and resolution of insurance claims. This position plays a key role in maintaining a strong revenue cycle, reducing outstanding accounts receivable, and ensuring compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and other payer requirements.
Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and support to the billing team.
Monitor team workflows, productivity, claim status, and outstanding accounts to ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
Oversee the timely and accurate billing of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and other third-party insurance claims.
Ensure claims are submitted accurately and promptly to minimize denials and payment delays.
Review accounts receivable aging and work collaboratively with the billing team to identify trends, barriers, and opportunities for improvement.
Assist Billing Specialists with complex claims, denials, payment discrepancies, eligibility issues, and account resolution.
Ensure compliance with payer contracts, federal and state billing regulations, and company policies.
Maintain accurate and complete billing documentation within PointClickCare (PCC).
Collaborate with facility leadership and management teams to resolve billing issues and obtain necessary documentation.
Verify patient and payer information and ensure billing is completed according to applicable guidelines and regulations.
Investigate delinquent accounts and assist in developing appropriate collection and resolution strategies.
Communicate with Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care organizations, commercial insurers, and other third-party payers regarding outstanding claims.
Monitor coverage effective dates, exhaustion dates, authorizations, late charges, adjustments, refunds, and other account activity.
Assist with account reconciliations and ensure financial accuracy across assigned accounts.
Identify billing trends, recurring denials, and process inefficiencies and work with leadership to implement corrective action.
Support the training and development of Billing Specialists and promote consistent billing practices across the team.
Maintain organized and thorough documentation of account activity, correspondence, adjustments, refunds, and payment follow-up.
Provide professional and responsive customer service regarding patient and facility account inquiries.
Promote a collaborative, accountable, and solutions-focused environment within the billing department.
Strong knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid billing regulations.
Previous healthcare billing, accounts receivable, or revenue cycle experience required.
Prior experience in a lead, senior billing, or supervisory capacity preferred.
Long-term care, skilled nursing, or post-acute healthcare billing experience strongly preferred.
Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) healthcare software strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and third-party payer processes.
Working knowledge of billing, collections, accounts receivable, claim follow-up, and denial resolution.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Experience with account reconciliations and maintaining financial accuracy.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with facility and corporate leadership.
