NOW HIRING: DIETARY COOK AND AIDES

The Dietary Cook, who oversees culinary preparation according to prescribed menus and dietary restrictions, and the Dietary Aide, who assists with meal assembly, service, dining room setup, and kitchen sanitation.


Key Responsibilities

Dietary Cook:

  • Food Preparation: Cook and prepare full meals following established recipes, portion controls, and planned menus.

  • Dietary Compliance: Modify recipes to accommodate special therapeutic diets (e.g., low sodium, pureed, mechanical soft, diabetic).

  • Food Safety & Sanitation: Maintain strict food safety protocols, proper holding temperatures, and safe food storage standards (HACCP).

  • Inventory Control: Assist with monitoring stock levels, labeling/dating food items, and minimizing waste.

Dietary Aide:

  • Meal Service & Assembly: Tray up foods according to meal cards, setup dining areas, and serve meals to residents/clients.

  • Prep & Support: Assist cooks with basic food prep (e.g., pouring beverages, preparing salads/desserts, portioning snacks).

  • Sanitation & Dishwashing: Wash dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment; sanitize work surfaces, meal carts, and dining tables.

  • Client Interaction: Deliver trays to resident rooms or serve in the dining room with a friendly, patient-centered demeanor.

Dietary Cook's Qualification

  • Education & Age: High school diploma/GED (or equivalent experience); minimum 18 years old.

  • Experience: 2+ years of institutional, healthcare, or high-volume commercial cooking.

  • Certifications: Valid ServSafe Manager (or obtain within 30 days of hire) and local food handler permit.

  • Knowledge: Proficient in standardized recipes, therapeutic diets (pureed, low-sodium), HACCP standards, and food temp logging.

  • Physical: Lift up to 50 lbs, stand for 8 hours, and push/pull carts over 100 lbs.

Dietary Aide's Qualification

  • Education & Age: High school diploma, GED, or active student enrollment; minimum 16 years old (18+ preferred).

  • Experience: Prior food service or hospitality experience preferred; entry-level welcome.

  • Certifications: Valid ServSafe Food Handler card (or obtain during onboarding).

  • Skills: Basic reading and math to follow diet tickets and tray cards; strong English communication skills.

  • Physical: Lift up to 30 lbs, stand/walk for up to 8 hours, and handle hot dishes and sanitizing chemicals.
