We are currently seeking a Remote Cash Poster to join our Accounts Receivable team.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Accurately and promptly post all resident and payer-related payments, including checks, EFTs, ACH payments, credit card transactions, and electronic remittances, to the appropriate accounts.

  • Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs) to ensure payments, adjustments, co-pays, deductibles, and contractual allowances are posted correctly.

  • Apply payments from Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, commercial insurance, private pay, and other payer sources.

  • Research and resolve unapplied cash, unidentified payments, incorrect postings, and payment discrepancies.

  • Reconcile daily cash posting batches to bank deposits, remittance reports, and payment documentation.

  • Identify overpayments, underpayments, denials, and discrepancies and communicate issues to the appropriate billing or collections team member for follow-up.

  • Ensure all cash posting activity is completed accurately and within established departmental timelines.

  • Assist with month-end closing processes by ensuring payments and adjustments are posted prior to reporting deadlines.

  • Maintain organized electronic and/or physical documentation supporting all payment activity.

  • Scan, upload, and retain A/R documentation in accordance with company policies and record retention requirements.

  • Collaborate with facility business office staff, billing specialists, collectors, and other revenue cycle team members to resolve account discrepancies.

  • Provide documentation and posting support during internal and external audits.

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential resident financial information.

  • Cross-train in additional Accounts Receivable and revenue cycle functions as needed.

  • Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and compliance education.

  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, company confidentiality policies, and all applicable healthcare regulations.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in cash posting, healthcare accounts receivable, medical billing, or revenue cycle operations required.

  • Skilled nursing facility, long-term care, senior living, or other healthcare billing experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience posting payments from Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, commercial insurance, and private-pay sources preferred.

  • Experience reviewing EOBs, ERAs, and electronic payment remittances.

  • Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) or a similar healthcare billing platform preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word.

  • Strong reconciliation skills with the ability to identify and research payment discrepancies.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accurate data entry.

  • Ability to process a high volume of transactions while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work independently while contributing to overall departmental goals.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Professional and collaborative approach when working with facility and corporate team members.

  • Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, and protection of resident financial information.

  • Ability to use a computer and telephone for extended periods throughout the workday.

  • Adequate visual and auditory acuity for written and verbal communication.
