Job Summary:
Overland Park Respiratory & Rehab Center is seeking a dependable and motivated Cook to join our dietary team. The Cook plays an important role in supporting resident health, comfort, and satisfaction by preparing nutritious, high-quality meals in accordance with facility menus, resident diet orders, food safety standards, and applicable state and federal regulations.
The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, team-oriented, and committed to providing excellent service to residents in a skilled nursing facility setting.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook meals in accordance with planned menus, standardized recipes, resident diet orders, portion control guidelines, and facility policies.
Assist in preparing meals for residents with regular, modified, therapeutic, texture-modified, and special diets as directed.
Ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely, attractive, and resident-centered manner.
Follow proper food handling, sanitation, infection control, and safety procedures at all times.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen and food preparation area.
Monitor food temperatures, storage practices, and food quality in accordance with facility procedures and regulatory requirements.
Assist with receiving, storing, labeling, and rotating food and supplies.
Communicate effectively with the Dietary Supervisor, Dietitian, nursing staff, and other facility team members.
Report food supply needs, equipment concerns, safety issues, or resident meal concerns to the Dietary Supervisor.
Promote a positive, accountable, resident-centered, and team-oriented culture.
Requirements:
Prior cooking or food service experience required.
Prior experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care, assisted living, hospital, or healthcare food service setting preferred.
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, proper food handling, and kitchen safety practices.
Ability to follow menus, recipes, diet instructions, portion guidelines, and facility procedures.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Salary Range: $19-$21 hourly, based on experience.
