Position: Executive Chef / Kitchen Supervisor
Location: Residential Care Facility
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Executive Chef to oversee our daily culinary operations and manage the dietary team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the preparation, cooking, and service of all three daily meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) while maintaining a strict, high-standard Kosher kitchen environment. You will work closely with facility leadership to ensure our residents receive nutritious, high-quality meals tailored to their dietary needs.
Key Responsibilities
Culinary Operations: Oversee the scratch-preparation, cooking, baking, and plating of all daily meals, including specialty rolls, pastries, and desserts.
Kosher Compliance: Maintain full operational compliance with Kosher kitchen regulations and dietary standards.
Meal Service & Tray Line: Direct and actively participate in the meal assembly line to ensure accurate portioning, timely service, and proper diet texture compliance.
Sanitation & Food Safety: Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness, including hands-on pot/pan sanitization, general workstation upkeep, and adherence to local health codes.
Leadership & Team Support: Manage kitchen operations and staff during meal periods, stepping into the leadership role in the absence of the Food Service Director. Perform other related kitchen management tasks as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in large-scale culinary production (healthcare or long-term care experience strongly preferred). Proven track record in a supervisory or kitchen management role.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of large-scale meal preparation, therapeutic diets, and Kosher guidelines.
Certifications & Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. ServSafe Manager (or equivalent healthcare culinary certification) required.
Schedule & Physicality: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including alternating weekends. Must be physically capable of standing for long periods, bending, lifting, and handling manual kitchen tasks.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills, strong team-building capacity, and a dedication to high-quality resident care and customer service.
