Position Summary

New Haven Manor, part of The W Group, is seeking an experienced Food Services Director to lead our Food Service Department. In this role, you'll oversee daily kitchen operations, lead the dietary team, and make sure every meal is safe, nutritious, and something our residents look forward to. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who takes pride in quality, compliance, and creating a positive dining experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan menus that meet nutritional guidelines, regulatory standards, and residents' preferences and cultural needs

• Ensure therapeutic and special diets (such as diabetic, low sodium, and texture-modified diets) are prepared and served correctly

• Hire, train, schedule, and supervise dietary and kitchen staff

• Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring food safety, sanitation, and proper storage at all times

• Order food, supplies, and equipment while managing inventory and staying within budget

• Maintain compliance with NYS Department of Health and NYC Health Department regulations, and prepare for inspections and surveys

• Keep required records, including temperature logs, cleaning schedules, and staff in-services

• Collaborate with nursing, case management, and administration to meet individual resident needs

• Gather resident feedback and participate in resident meetings to continuously improve the dining experience

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of food service management experience, with healthcare, assisted living, or senior living experience preferred

• Knowledge of therapeutic diets, dietary regulations, and food safety standards

• NYC Food Protection Certificate required; ServSafe Manager Certification a plus

• Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) credential a plus

• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

• Experience with budgeting, inventory control, and staff scheduling

• Flexibility to work occasional weekends and holidays as needed

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
