Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

Winston Manor is seeking an experienced, dependable, and compassionate Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our nursing leadership team. The ADON works closely with the Director of Nursing to support the daily operations of the Nursing Department and help ensure residents receive safe, appropriate, and resident-centered care.

This position is ideal for a nurse who demonstrates strong clinical judgment, leadership, accountability, and the ability to effectively support and develop nursing staff in an Intermediate Care Facility environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Nursing with the daily operations and oversight of the Nursing Department

  • Provide clinical leadership, guidance, and support to RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and nursing staff

  • Assist with ensuring appropriate nursing coverage and staffing

  • Monitor resident care and ensure nursing services are provided in accordance with physician orders, individualized care plans, facility policies, and applicable requirements

  • Follow up on changes in resident condition, physician orders, treatments, laboratory results, and other clinical matters

  • Assist with resident assessments, care planning, and interdisciplinary care conferences

  • Monitor nursing documentation for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness

  • Assist with investigating resident, family, and staff concerns involving nursing services

  • Participate in quality assurance, infection prevention, risk management, and performance improvement initiatives

  • Assist with nursing staff orientation, education, coaching, and competency development

  • Support the Director of Nursing with employee performance and accountability

  • Collaborate with Social Services, behavioral health, Activities, Dietary, and other members of the interdisciplinary team

  • Assist with preparation for surveys, audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews

  • Participate in facility and clinical leadership meetings

  • Promote resident dignity, safety, privacy, independence, and quality of care

  • Serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff and assist with resident-care needs as necessary

  • Assume nursing leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Nursing as assigned

  • Perform additional nursing leadership duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program

  • Previous nursing experience in an ICF, long-term care, behavioral health, or related healthcare setting preferred

  • Previous supervisory or nursing leadership experience preferred

  • Strong clinical judgment and knowledge of nursing practices

  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to supervise, coach, and provide direction to nursing staff

  • Ability to prioritize and follow through on clinical and operational responsibilities

  • Dependable, professional, and committed to resident-centered care

  • Must meet applicable health and background requirements

Schedule

  • Full-time nursing leadership position

  • Schedule may vary based on facility and resident-care needs

  • Weekend and on-call availability may be required
