Position Summary:

The Community Support Professional (CSP) provides direct and team support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to foster independence, promote meaningful community engagement, and enhance quality of life. The CSP facilitates opportunities for growth across various life domains including social, vocational, recreational, and adaptive living skills. This position may include support within a day habilitation program or through individualized services in the community. While the role focuses on skill-building and enrichment, assistance with activities of daily living—including hygiene—is provided as necessary to support participant independence and dignity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized and group support to help participants engage in community-based and/or day program activities.

• Facilitate and lead skill-building and enrichment activities designed to enhance independence, self-advocacy, and community inclusion.

• Support participants in navigating social interactions, resolving conflicts, and developing appropriate peer relationships.

• Implement program goals and service plans in accordance with agency and state guidelines.

• Assist with transportation of participants to and from the program or community outings, if applicable.

• Offer personal care or hygiene support only as necessary to promote the participant’s well-being and active engagement.

• Maintain clear documentation, daily logs, and progress reports as required.

• Communicate effectively with team members, families, and supervisors to ensure quality support.

• Represent the agency with professionalism and a strengths-based approach in all community settings.

• Participate in required trainings, certifications, and continuing education as outlined by the agency and funding sources.
