Charter Senior Living of Walking Horse Meadows | Clarksville, TN
$20-$23/hour | Full-Time, 40 Hours/Week
At Charter Senior Living of Walking Horse Meadows, Life Enrichment isn't about simply keeping an activity calendar full.
It's about knowing our residents.
It's understanding their stories, interests, talents, routines, and preferences—and using those relationships to create experiences that give residents connection, purpose, choice, and something to look forward to.
We're looking for an experienced senior living professional to join us as our next Life Enrichment Director / Programming Director.
Walking Horse Meadows is a small, close-knit senior living community with strong 92% occupancy, long-standing members of our leadership team, and solid regional support. We're looking for someone who can immerse themselves in the community, build meaningful relationships, and bring fresh ideas to an already established resident experience.
If you're creative, adaptable, relationship-driven, and passionate about making a visible difference in seniors' lives, we'd love to meet you.
Great programming starts with relationships.
We want someone who will be highly visible throughout the community, get to know residents individually, understand what matters to them, and create opportunities that encourage meaningful participation.
You'll help residents remain active, connected, involved, and purposeful while creating an environment where everyone feels like they belong.
We're not looking for someone to simply repeat the same calendar month after month.
Bring us your ideas.
You'll have the opportunity to introduce new programs, events, outings, partnerships, clubs, and experiences while evaluating what's already successful and building from that foundation.
The right person can balance creativity with execution—coming up with ideas is important, but making them happen is what matters.
Walking Horse Meadows is located in the heart of Clarksville, and we want our programming to extend beyond our four walls.
You'll build relationships with families, local organizations, volunteers, entertainers, businesses, schools, churches, and other community partners to create additional opportunities and experiences for our residents.
As Life Enrichment Director, you'll lead the overall resident programming and engagement experience at Walking Horse Meadows.
You'll:
Develop, implement, and oversee the community's Life Enrichment program
Create engaging monthly programming calendars based on resident interests and abilities
Plan and lead social, recreational, educational, physical, spiritual, creative, and purposeful programming
Develop special events, celebrations, entertainment, outings, and community experiences
Build strong individual relationships with residents
Encourage participation while respecting resident choice and independence
Regularly seek resident feedback and use it to strengthen programming
Introduce fresh and innovative programming based on resident interests
Create opportunities for resident-led clubs, committees, and activities
Coordinate entertainers, speakers, volunteers, instructors, and community partners
Build relationships with residents' families and encourage family participation
Develop relationships throughout the greater Clarksville community
Coordinate outings and transportation needs
Supervise and support Life Enrichment associates and volunteers, when applicable
Maintain programming calendars, schedules, participation records, and required documentation
Manage programming supplies, resources, and department budget
Partner with other department leaders to create community-wide experiences
Collaborate with Sales & Marketing to showcase the resident experience to prospective residents and families
Support resident satisfaction, retention, community reputation, and occupancy
Adapt programming as resident interests and community needs evolve
We're looking for someone who understands the unique environment of senior living and knows that successful resident engagement requires much more than planning events.
Our ideal candidate brings:
Previous senior living experience – required
Experience in Life Enrichment, activities, programming, recreation, resident engagement, or a related senior living role
Strong resident-engagement and relationship-building skills
Creativity and a track record of bringing new programming ideas to life
Strong community-relations skills
Ability to build relationships with residents, families, associates, and outside partners
Adaptability and comfort responding to changing resident and community needs
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to independently manage multiple programs, events, and priorities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Positive, energetic, and professional presence
Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Ability to collaborate effectively with an established leadership team
Walking Horse Meadows already has an established culture, strong occupancy, and long-standing leaders.
That means we're not looking for someone who walks in assuming everything needs to change.
We're looking for someone who will listen first, build relationships, learn the residents and community, recognize what's working, and then identify opportunities to make the program even stronger.
You'll need to be comfortable adjusting programming based on resident feedback, participation, changing needs, and new opportunities.
The goal is thoughtful innovation—not change simply for the sake of change.
Genuinely enjoy building relationships with seniors
Are highly visible and engaged throughout the community
Take time to learn residents as individuals
Can walk into an established community and earn trust
Bring new ideas without losing sight of what's already working
Can turn creative ideas into organized, successful programs
Are comfortable leading groups and encouraging participation
Build relationships naturally with families and community partners
Are adaptable when plans or priorities change
Take ownership without needing constant direction
Collaborate well with an experienced leadership team
Understand how resident programming contributes to satisfaction, retention, referrals, reputation, and occupancy
Want your work to have a direct and visible impact
Walking Horse Meadows offers something special for the right Life Enrichment leader.
We're a small, quaint community located in the heart of Clarksville with a strong census and several long-standing members of our leadership team.
You'll also have support from Charter's regional team while still having the opportunity to bring your own ideas and creativity to the community.
Most importantly, your work will be highly visible.
You'll see the impact when residents form new friendships.
When someone discovers a new interest.
When families want to participate.
When residents are excited about what's coming up next.
And when prospective residents walk through our doors and immediately feel the sense of community we're building.
For someone who wants to make a direct impact on seniors while continuing to grow professionally, this is an opportunity to do exactly that.
