Winston Manor is seeking a dependable and experienced Cook to join our dietary team. The Cook plays an important role in preparing nutritious, appealing meals that support the health and well-being of our residents. Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and dietary requirements

• Follow standardized recipes, portion sizes, and food preparation guidelines

• Accommodate prescribed diets, food allergies, and special dietary needs as directed

• Ensure meals are prepared and served according to established schedules

• Maintain proper food temperatures and follow food safety and sanitation procedures

• Prepare ingredients, including washing, cutting, measuring, and portioning food

• Ensure food is properly stored, labeled, dated, and rotated

• Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, including work surfaces, cooking equipment, and food preparation areas

• Follow infection-control practices and applicable health department regulations

• Monitor food supplies and notify the dietary supervisor of shortages or inventory needs

• Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries as needed

• Minimize food waste while maintaining meal quality and appropriate portion sizes

• Work collaboratively with dietary staff and facility personnel to ensure timely meal service

• Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, and food quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor

• Perform additional dietary duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience required or preferred

• Experience in a healthcare, skilled nursing, institutional, or high-volume food service setting preferred

• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures

• Ability to follow recipes, menus, and special dietary instructions

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

• Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team

• Ability to communicate professionally with residents, staff, and supervisors

• Food handler certification or other required food safety credentials, as applicable

• Must meet applicable health and background requirements

Schedule

• Schedule based on facility needs

• Full-time and part-time opportunities may be available

• Weekend and holiday availability may be required
